Samsung has started rolling out a new update for the Galaxy S23 FE, but it isn’t One UI 9.0. The update brings the October 2026 security patch to the phone, which remains on Android 16, via Kailash. It follows the stable One UI 9 releases that the rest of the lineup has already received, including the Galaxy S23 series in Europe and the Galaxy S23, Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 on Verizon in the US.

The patch fixes 62 security issues, and it doesn’t bring the Android 17 upgrade or any of the One UI 9.0 features. The S23 FE received a separate One UI 8.5-based October patch in South Korea earlier in the week, and this global build follows it.
Samsung has said One UI 9.0 for the Galaxy S23 FE will arrive later this year without giving an exact date. The phone launched with Android 13, so Android 17 is expected to be its fourth and final major Android upgrade under Samsung’s original four-generation commitment, though security updates can continue after that.
To install the update, open Settings, tap Software update and select Download and install. Availability can still vary by model, region and carrier.
