Apple’s standard iPhone 18 will reportedly come with a larger battery than the iPhone 17, according to a new Weibo post from tipster Digital Chat Station. The tipster didn’t share an exact capacity, so the size of the increase is unknown. The iPhone 17’s battery is 3,692mAh.
The leak also points to a higher price, without saying by how much. It isn’t clear whether the increase would be measured against the iPhone 17’s $799 launch price or the $899 Apple moved it to in the US in September, or whether it would apply in the US at all. Apple has already increased battery capacity on this year’s iPhone 18 Pro models, by about 1.7% and 11.8% on the Pro and Pro Max versions with a physical SIM tray.
The standard iPhone 18 is expected to arrive in the first half of 2027 rather than alongside the Pro models. The tipster says it will launch with the iPhone 18e and the iPhone Air 2, a follow-up to the iPhone Air, and expects the iPhone 18 to be the best seller of the three.
