The Galaxy A57 5G just became the first mid-range Samsung phone to actually enter public One UI 9 beta testing, moving past weeks of setup signals into a real rollout. The beta, based on Android 17, is now live in India, running firmware A576BXXU5ZZHJ at roughly 2.3GB, and it comes bundled with the August 2026 security patch.
This didn’t happen out of nowhere. A dedicated One UI Beta Program section for the A57 showed up on Samsung’s Community forum back in late August, a strong hint that testing was coming without an actual date attached. Before that, internal Android 17 builds for the A57 had already been spotted on Samsung’s servers as far back as June. So the path here is pretty clean: internal testing, then a forum placeholder, then an actual public beta three months later.
What makes this worth paying attention to is the shift in scope. One UI 9 beta testing started with the Galaxy S26 back in May and has largely stayed flagship territory since. The A57 breaking into public beta first, ahead of other A-series phones like the A56, A55, and A35 that have only shown internal test builds so far, marks Samsung’s first real move into mid-range Android 17 testing.
Don’t expect the full flagship experience, though. Reports around this build note some advanced AI and camera features are likely to be scaled back or absent on mid-range hardware, even while core One UI 9 changes carry over, thicker sliders, a redesigned lock-screen media player, and Galaxy AI improvements among them.
If you’re outside India, there’s no confirmed timeline yet for when Samsung expands this further, so A57 owners elsewhere are stuck watching for now.
