Samsung is opening up the One UI 9 beta to six more devices starting in September, and this expansion finally brings the 2025 flagship lineup into testing. The Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and S25 FE are all included, alongside both of Samsung’s 2025 foldables, the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Fold7.
That’s a meaningful jump from where the program started. One UI 9 beta testing began back in May with the Galaxy S26 series exclusively, and Samsung’s now moving to open it up to last year’s flagships while the S26 beta itself appears to be nearing a stable release. SamMobile notes Samsung looks close to shipping stable One UI 9 for the S26 lineup, which makes the timing here less about starting fresh and more about widening the net before the full rollout.
Availability at launch is limited to four markets: India, South Korea, the UK, and the US. Owners of an eligible device in one of those regions can register through the Samsung Members app, though Samsung notes exact availability can still vary by specific model. As always with beta software, expect some rough edges. This is testing software, not a finished build, so bugs and incomplete features are part of the deal.
One UI 9 itself is built on Android 17 and centers on expanded personalization, new creative tools, accessibility upgrades, and broader AI features, continuing the direction Samsung set with the initial S26 beta back in May.
Worth being precise about what this announcement doesn’t cover. Samsung hasn’t named any A-series devices as part of this expansion, so phones like the A56 or A57 remain unconfirmed for One UI 9 testing regardless of what separate firmware evidence has suggested. It’s also worth not confusing this with One UI 8.5, a different beta program Samsung ran earlier in 2026 for older devices like the S23 series and Z Fold5.
For S25 and Z Fold7/Flip7 owners who’ve been waiting to try Samsung’s next major software update, this is the first real chance to do that ahead of a public release, assuming Samsung sticks to its usual pattern of moving from flagship beta to stable rollout over the following months.
