Samsung has started rolling out stable One UI 9.0, based on Android 17, to the Galaxy A16 5G and Galaxy A35 in the United States. Both phones got the update in other markets first, with the Galaxy A16 starting in South Korea and the Galaxy A35 following outside South Korea.
| Detail | Galaxy A16 5G | Galaxy A35 |
| Update | One UI 9.0, stable | One UI 9.0, stable |
| Android version | Android 17 | Android 17 |
| US firmware | A166USQUAEZJ5 | A356USQUCEZJ2 |
| Carrier | Verizon | T-Mobile, AT&T and US Cellular (reportedly) |
| Release date | October 27 | October 26 (reportedly) |
| Security patch | September 2026 | Not reported |
Verizon’s software update page lists the A16 5G release as System Update 16, with software version CP2A.260605.016.A166USQUAEZJ5. It carries the September 2026 security patch rather than October’s, and Verizon estimates the download and the installation at 6 to 10 minutes each. The A35 build has been reported for the three carriers above, but I could not find a patch level for it, and unlocked units have not been mentioned for either phone.
The two phones use separate firmware, and availability depends on the exact model and carrier, so a phone that doesn’t show the update yet isn’t necessarily excluded. This is the same One UI 9.0 update the phones received elsewhere. For the A16 5G, Verizon’s notes highlight Warranty and Care, Interpreter, Security Brief and Privacy Alerts.
To check, open Settings, tap Software update, then Download and install, and keep the phone charged and connected to Wi-Fi or a strong network.
