Android Headlines has built a physical Galaxy S27 Ultra dummy from the CAD files it published in August and photographed it next to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, iPhone 18 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro. The shell has no display, battery or internals, so it only shows the exterior, but that exterior includes a big change: a wide horizontal camera bar with a raised bump on top, replacing the S26 Ultra’s vertical layout and carrying one camera fewer.
The body itself barely moves. The S Pen slot stays on the bottom edge beside the speaker, USB-C port and SIM tray, and the power and volume buttons remain on the right.
| Measurement | Galaxy S26 Ultra | Galaxy S27 Ultra dummy |
| Height | 163.6 mm | 163.76 mm |
| Width | 78.1 mm | 78.25 mm |
| Thickness | 7.9 mm | 7.97 mm |
The dummy has three rear cameras. Samsung is rumored to be dropping the 3x telephoto, which would leave the following setup.
| Rear camera | Rumored specification |
| Main | 200MP |
| Ultra-wide | 50MP |
| Telephoto | 50MP, 5x optical zoom |
Because of the new camera cutout, Android Headlines says nearly all Galaxy S26 Ultra cases won’t fit, even though the rest of the body matches.
The higher bar could also help with magnetic accessories. Samsung has kept built-in Qi2 magnets out of the Galaxy S lineup, largely because magnets can interfere with the S Pen, and the outlet says it doesn’t know for sure whether the S27 Ultra will add them. What it does say is that the S26 Ultra’s large camera bump stops magnetic battery packs from seating fully, which makes them run warm and charge slowly, and that the new layout leaves room to fix that.
Next to the iPhone 18 Pro, the S27 Ultra’s bar is much larger, although Android Headlines compared it with the smaller Pro rather than the Pro Max. Against the Pixel 11 Pro, the Samsung’s lenses protrude slightly from the bar instead of sitting flush. The dummy rests steadily on a table but still wobbles when the lower-right corner of the screen is tapped, and since the shell lacks the final phone’s weight, the finished device could behave differently.
Android Headlines expects Samsung to unveil the Galaxy S27 series at Unpacked in January or February 2027, and guesses at the week of February 22.
