Anthropic has rolled out a genuinely useful update for iOS developers: Claude Code for Desktop can now build, launch, and test iOS apps directly inside Apple’s iOS Simulator, cutting out a lot of the back-and-forth between Claude and Xcode.
Instead of just generating Swift code and leaving the rest to you, Claude can now open your app in a live Simulator pane, interact with the interface, watch how it behaves, spot bugs, fix the code, and rebuild all in one continuous loop. You can keep tapping around the simulator yourself while Claude works alongside you.
Open an iOS project in Claude Code Desktop’s Code tab and just ask Claude to run or verify something like “build the app and check the onboarding flow in the simulator.” The Simulator pane opens automatically the first time Claude launches or checks the app, and it’ll ask permission before accessing a device.
Unlike Claude’s existing computer-use feature, this integration talks directly to Apple’s Simulator rather than controlling the screen the way a person would, so it doesn’t need macOS Accessibility or Screen Recording permissions to work.
This requires a Mac running Claude Code Desktop (version 1.24012.0 or later), plus Xcode with the iOS Simulator platform installed. It’s available now in public beta for Pro, Max, and Team plan subscribers Enterprise isn’t supported yet, and simulator sessions are local-only for now.
Screenshots of your simulator session are sent to Anthropic and retained per standard conversation settings, so Anthropic recommends avoiding real account logins on any device Claude is testing with.
This follows Anthropic’s February 2026 rollout of Claude Agent SDK support inside Xcode itself, extending that collaboration into full app execution and testing rather than just code generation.
