Samsung has started rolling out stable One UI 9.0, based on Android 17, to the Galaxy A17 4G in South Korea. The first reports appeared on October 23, a few days after the Galaxy A17 5G got its own build, and that 5G model is the same phone Samsung is reportedly already testing One UI 9.5 on. Samsung hasn’t announced a schedule for other countries.
| Detail | Galaxy A17 4G | Galaxy A17 5G |

The two phones get separate software, so each one should only install the update offered for its own model. Samsung is expected to expand the rollout gradually and finish globally by the end of November, but that is a report rather than a Samsung announcement, and individual countries and carriers will see it at different times. Not seeing the update yet doesn’t mean your phone is excluded. The report doesn’t say whether the 4G build has been released to everyone in South Korea or only some users.
No changelog has been published for the A17 4G build, so the details come from what One UI 9 has brought to other phones so far. That includes more Quick Panel customization, new privacy controls, accessibility improvements and a redesigned Samsung Health. Features can differ by model, region and hardware, and a budget phone like the A17 won’t necessarily get everything. The A17 is one of several affordable Galaxy phones getting the update this week, after the Galaxy A26 5G and the Galaxy A16 4G and A16 5G in South Korea.
To check, open Settings, tap Software update, then Download and install. Back up your data before installing a major Android upgrade, and keep the phone charged.
