Samsung has opened the One UI 9.0 beta program for the Galaxy A25, giving owners of the older mid-ranger an early look at Android 17 ahead of the stable rollout. It’s a notable step because this appears to be the first time Samsung has pushed a public One UI 9 beta to a Galaxy A2x-series device, a tier that’s historically been left out of early testing in favor of flagships and select higher-end A-series phones like the Galaxy A57.
Availability details aren’t fully consistent across reports the beta appears to have started in India, though at least one other outlet points to a UK rollout too. That suggests Samsung is expanding across multiple beta markets rather than restricting this to a single country, so treat it as a staged rollout rather than a global one for now.
The update carries firmware A256BXXUEZZIA, weighs in at roughly 2.8GB, and ships with the September 2026 security patch. Having concrete firmware and build numbers is a good sign this is a genuine public beta rather than internal-only testing.
Eligible Galaxy A25 owners can check the Samsung Members app for the One UI 9 Beta Program banner, register there, then head to Settings → Software update and hit Download and install once the update shows up. As always, availability depends on region and device variant.
The A25 beta brings a chunk of the changes Samsung has already rolled out to devices like the Galaxy S25 series: a more customizable Quick Panel, updates to Samsung Notes, DeX improvements, a clearer privacy indicator, and a handful of accessibility enhancements. Samsung’s broader One UI 9 push has also introduced Galaxy AI additions like Now Nudge, My FanCam, Custom Cards in Now Brief, and Call Brief, though those were shown off on Samsung’s higher-end phones first there’s no A25-specific changelog yet confirming which of those AI features actually made the cut here.
Public One UI betas have traditionally stayed within flagship and upper-tier A-series territory, so opening this up to the A25 signals Samsung is pushing its testing program further down the lineup than before. It’s worth being clear, though, that a beta isn’t the same as a stable release Samsung hasn’t announced a stable One UI 9 date for the A25 yet, and the phone had only appeared on internal-testing lists before today. This is the first time it’s getting an actual public build.
Samsung had already announced a broader One UI 9 beta expansion on September 1, but the A25 wasn’t part of that original list this rollout looks like it was added afterward, arriving on September 15.
