Samsung’s next entry-level phone, the Galaxy A08, is edging closer to launch. The device has now shown up on Samsung’s official Serbia product page under model number SM-A085F, while a UAE retailer has separately listed it with real pricing and configuration details together giving a fairly complete picture of what Samsung’s cheapest new Galaxy phone will offer.
Design
The A08 sticks to a simple, entry-level look: a flat display with a waterdrop-style front camera notch, and a rectangular camera module on the back. Samsung’s official images show the phone measuring 167.4 x 77.4 x 8.0mm and weighing 197 grams, available in three colors Dark Blue, Silver, and Green.
The one real upgrade on the durability front is an IP64 rating, giving the A08 protection against dust and water splashes. Samsung is careful to note this doesn’t mean the phone is meant for pools or beaches, it’s splash resistance, not full water resistance.
Display
The Galaxy A08 uses a 6.7-inch PLS LCD panel at 720 x 1600 (HD+) resolution with support for 16 million colors measured at 6.7 inches across the full rectangle, or closer to 6.6 inches accounting for the rounded corners. Retailer listings also point to a 90Hz refresh rate, which would put the display’s smoothness a step above what HD+ resolution alone might suggest.
Processor
Samsung’s official specs describe an octa-core processor clocked up to 2.2GHz, and a UAE retailer listing fills in the rest: it’s a MediaTek Helio G99, the same chip Samsung has used across several recent A0-series phones.
RAM and Storage
Configurations vary depending on where the listing comes from. Samsung’s Serbia page lists 4GB RAM + 128GB storage with microSD support up to 2TB, while the UAE retailer shows 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB options instead. The safest way to describe it: memory configurations vary by market, with listings showing up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, plus microSD expansion. Samsung also confirms LPDDR5X memory and support for RAM Plus, which can borrow internal storage as extra virtual memory depending on the configuration.
Camera

There’s no optical image stabilization on either rear camera, which is typical for this price segment. Samsung is positioning the 50MP main sensor as the headline camera feature.
Battery and Charging
The biggest actual upgrade on the A08 is its battery. Samsung lists a 6,000mAh typical capacity (5,830mAh rated), a genuinely large jump from the Galaxy A07’s 5,000mAh cell, roughly 20% more capacity. The UAE retailer listing adds that charging tops out at 25W wired.
Software: Android 17 and One UI 9
This is arguably the most interesting detail for a phone at this price point. Samsung’s official Serbia listing shows the A08 running One UI 9, and the phone’s user manual is specifically labeled Android 17 the English version dated August 14, 2026, and the Serbian version dated August 21, 2026. That’s strong evidence Samsung is preparing to launch its most affordable new Galaxy phone with Android 17 and One UI 9 already installed, rather than an older version.
Software longevity is even more notable: Samsung is promising up to 6 major OS upgrades and up to 6 years of security updates, calculated from the phone’s global launch date. For an entry-level device, that’s a long support runway closer to what buyers get on Samsung’s mid-range devices, including phones further up the A-series lineup, than what budget phones have traditionally offered.
Galaxy AI and Extra Features
Even at this price, Samsung is including a handful of AI and security features:
- Circle to Search circle anything on screen to search it, with Google AI Overviews available where supported.
- Knox Vault EAL5+ certified hardware-level protection for sensitive data.
- RAM Plus uses spare internal storage as virtual memory to keep more apps running in the background.
Connectivity
The A08 covers the basics expected at this tier: 4G LTE, dual SIM plus a dedicated microSD slot, USB-C (USB 2.0), dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS with GLONASS/BeiDou/Galileo/QZSS support, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, light sensor, and proximity sensor round out the hardware.
Price and Availability
A UAE retailer, Virgin Megastore, has already listed the 4GB+64GB Galaxy A08 at AED 625 (down from a listed AED 659) but that’s a regional retailer price, not an officially announced global MSRP. Samsung has published official product pages for the A08 in Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina, and the phone has also surfaced at the UAE retailer, but there’s no confirmed global launch announcement yet. The safest way to put it: Samsung has started publishing the Galaxy A08 on regional websites, and it’s appeared at a UAE retailer, ahead of what looks like a broader rollout still to come.

Looking at it side by side, the battery jump is really the headline change; the processor and core camera setup carry over largely unchanged from the A07. That lines up with how third-party comparisons have described the A08 so far: a modest, battery-focused upgrade rather than a full redesign.
