OpenAI has officially launched the ChatGPT App Store, a new cross-platform marketplace that lets users discover, install and run third-party apps directly inside ChatGPT on Android, iOS and the web. The rollout marks a major evolution for the chatbot platform, turning it into a broader AI-powered ecosystem of connected tools and services.
The ChatGPT App Store is integrated into the ChatGPT interface and accessible via a dedicated Apps tab. From there, users can browse categories like Featured, Productivity, Lifestyle and more, install apps with a tap, and use them seamlessly alongside regular chat interactions without having to switch to separate standalone applications.
Early highlights in the store include integrations from popular services like Spotify, Expedia, Canva, Adobe Photoshop and Zillow, which bring real-world functionality into ChatGPT. For example, users can plan trips, compose design assets, browse listings and access music controls directly through conversational prompts and context-aware commands.
For developers, OpenAI has launched an Apps SDK (still in early stages) that lets creators build and publish apps for the platform. The store supports developer onboarding, app listings with privacy disclosures and eventually monetization opportunities, making it more than just a directory of integrations.
OpenAI’s move expands ChatGPT from a standalone chatbot into a platform ecosystem that can host context-aware AI tools and workflows. Unlike traditional mobile app stores, ChatGPT’s marketplace lets apps be invoked inside the chat itself, allowing users to mix natural language, generative AI and app actions in a single interface.
The launch on both Android and iOS comes amid intensifying competition in AI platforms and mobile ecosystems, with OpenAI positioning its app store as a unique hub for integrated AI-driven experiences and a potential competitor to traditional app marketplaces in certain use cases.
