Xiaomi’s flagship strategy is shifting more than the original leaks suggested. It’s not just the Xiaomi 18 Pro going global this year certification filings from July 30 show the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max and the standard Xiaomi 18 have also picked up EEC approval, hinting that Xiaomi may take its entire top-tier lineup outside China for the first time in this generation.
That’s worth pausing on, because the paper trail is unusually consistent. The 18 Pro carries global model number 26122PN61G, distinct from its Chinese counterpart, and separate filings tie 2609BPN61G to the Pro Max and 2611FPNFAG to the base 18 three separate global model numbers is a stronger signal than a single leaked device would be. That said, not every report agrees on scope: at least one outlet has floated the possibility that the Pro specifically might get skipped from the international rollout even as its siblings go global, so the exact lineup isn’t fully locked down yet.
The bigger context here is what didn’t make the trip. Xiaomi has reportedly canceled the Xiaomi 18 Ultra entirely this generation, and the Xiaomi 18 Fold, a wide-style foldable positioned as a Galaxy Z Fold 8 rival, is expected to debut in August but stay exclusive to China, unlike the numbered series.
On the hardware side, the Pro and Pro Max are tipped to share Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip, while the base Xiaomi 18 is expected to settle for the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 instead, reportedly because the pricier 2nm Pro silicon isn’t cost-effective to include across the whole lineup. Camera-wise, the Pro models are tipped to carry twin 200MP SmartSens sensors, including a large 1/1.28-inch main sensor with LOFIC dynamic-range tech, a notable jump from anything Xiaomi has shipped globally before.
There’s a business logic behind the expansion too. Xiaomi reportedly moved over 5 million units of the 17 series in China within its first 22 weeks on sale, and rising global memory costs appear to be pushing Xiaomi toward spreading that same flagship investment across more markets rather than treating international buyers as an afterthought.
Nothing is official yet, and Xiaomi typically waits until a September China launch before confirming global plans. But three separate certifications landing in the same week is a much stronger signal than the single Pro-only leak this story started as.
