Samsung’s “crease-free” Galaxy Z Fold 8 didn’t stay that way for long. Multiple creators who’ve had review units for about a week are now posting side-by-side comparisons showing the once-flat inner display picking up a visible fold line again a reversal from the near-invisible crease that dominated day-one impressions after Unpacked.
Worth noting upfront: Samsung’s actual marketing language was more careful than the hype suggested. The company described Flex Titanium as reducing crease visibility and improving durability, not eliminating the crease outright. That distinction matters, because what’s showing up after a week looks more like the display settling into normal use than a broken promise. Reviewers consistently report the screen still feels just as smooth to the touch, with the crease only becoming obvious under harsh reflected light.
The technology itself is a real structural change, not just marketing. Flex Titanium swaps out the carbon-fiber polymer film every previous Fold used for a titanium-alloy film roughly 20 times stiffer, paired with a laser-perforated titanium plate designed to eliminate air gaps beneath the panel. Previous Fold generations typically took six to twelve months before creases became noticeable; seeing any change after just seven days is faster, though it’s not yet clear whether that’s the crease returning to old Fold territory or a much smaller, cosmetic-only shift.
The comparison to competitors adds useful context to the Oppo Find N6 reportedly holding its crease-reduction better over the same one-week window, suggesting Samsung’s titanium approach may age differently than other display-stack designs already on the market.
With the Z Fold 8 not even officially on sale until August 7, everything so far comes from a handful of creator units. Real judgment on Flex Titanium won’t be possible until phones that have seen months of daily folding, not just a week, are out in the wild.
