Samsung has confirmed that a new book-style foldable will launch in China on October 29, and it is widely expected to be the W27, according to Samsung’s China site. The announcement also came through Samsung’s Weibo account with a teaser showing a gold-framed foldable, and the phone is expected to be built on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra with a luxury finish. The W27 name itself comes from leaker Ice Universe, not Samsung, and only the date is official.
| Detail | Status |
| Launch | October 29, China (confirmed by Samsung) |
| Event time | 16:00, per reports |
| Name | W27 per Ice Universe; the registration site’s URL references “W2026” |

| Displays | 8-inch inner and 6.5-inch cover, both 120Hz, as on the Fold 8 Ultra |
| Cameras | 200MP main, 50MP ultrawide, 10MP telephoto, reported |
| Battery | 5,000mAh with 45W wired charging, reported |
| Price | Not announced |
| Sales date | November 5 in one report, not confirmed |
The hardware list is borrowed from the Fold 8 Ultra, not from a W27 spec sheet. Samsung lists up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage for that phone, but the W27’s memory options haven’t been confirmed. Wireless charging is also unclear, since some reports say 20W while Samsung lists 15W for the Fold 8 Ultra. One report notes the teaser poster seems to show two foldable silhouettes, so the lineup might include more than one device, but that isn’t confirmed.
The W series is Samsung’s China-only luxury line, and last year’s W26 was a reworked Galaxy Z Fold 7 with gold accents and 16GB of RAM, priced at CNY 16,999 for 512GB and CNY 18,999 for 1TB. The Fold 8 Ultra reportedly starts at CNY 14,999 in China, so a W27 priced above it would match the pattern, but Samsung hasn’t announced a price. Reservations are reportedly open at Samsung’s authorized stores, and a November 5 sales date has been reported without official confirmation.
There’s no sign of a global release, so anyone outside China would likely need a third-party importer, with the usual questions about network bands, software support and warranty. Samsung will share the full details at the October 29 event.
