Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ Launches in India

Motorola just launched one of its most capable non-foldable smartphones ever. The Edge 70 Pro+ went official in India today and it arrives with a specification sheet that punches well above what most people associate with the Motorola brand. Three 50MP cameras including a periscope telephoto, a display that hits 5,200 nits peak brightness, IP68 and IP69 dual water resistance, and a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery all in a body measuring just 7.2mm thin and weighing 190g.

The display is the first thing worth talking about. The 6.8-inch AMOLED at 144Hz with 100% DCI-P3 color coverage, Pantone Validated colors, HDR10+, and 5,200 nits peak brightness is genuinely one of the brightest panels available in this price category. Outdoor visibility was always a weakness of mid-range AMOLED panels at 5,200 nits, that conversation is over.

Cameras are where Motorola made its biggest statement. All three rear cameras shoot at 50MP the main sensor is a Sony LYTIA 710 with OIS, backed by a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP periscope telephoto at 3.5x optical zoom extending to 50x digital. That’s a proper professional zoom system, not a token telephoto sensor. 4K HDR10+ video at 60fps and slow-motion 4K at 120fps round out a video capability most buyers won’t fully use but will appreciate having.

Performance comes from the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.1 storage upper mid-range rather than flagship Snapdragon territory, which will be the main criticism at this price point. 90W TurboPower wired charging, 15W wireless, and 10W reverse wireless cover all charging scenarios. The MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability certification alongside IP68/IP69 makes this one of the toughest phones in its segment.

Early hands-on impressions from users who tested pre-launch units praised build quality, daylight photography, and the telephoto camera while flagging low-light performance and speaker quality as areas with room for improvement.

Available in Pantone Stormy Sea, Zinfandel, and Chicory Coffee. The software is Android 16 with Hello UX, backed by 3 Android upgrades and 5 years of security patches.
