Samsung has reportedly started internal One UI 9.5 testing on the Galaxy A17 5G. A test build was spotted on Samsung’s servers in early October, according to tipster NingSP, who listed the firmware as A176BXXU8EZJ1 alongside the A176BOXM8EZJ1 version that SamMobile also reported. Both strings appear to point to the same One UI 9.5 test firmware for the SM-A176B, based on Android 17.
| Detail | Galaxy A17 5G |
| Software | One UI 9.5 (Android 17) |
| Reported builds | A176BXXU8EZJ1, A176BOXM8EZJ1 |
| Status | Internal testing |
| Public beta | Not announced |
| Stable release | Not announced |
The sighting is notable because Samsung is also testing One UI 9.5 on the Galaxy S26, which suggests the next software cycle is already reaching its more affordable A-series phones. It doesn’t mean the A17 5G will skip One UI 9. Samsung routinely develops the next version while the current one is still rolling out, as it has with the Galaxy A57 and the Galaxy A58, and it is also running One UI 9 beta builds on the Galaxy A16 and A55.
The features rumored for One UI 9.5 so far include App Lock, dark app icons, smoother animations, a new fingerprint unlock animation, tweaks to the camera interface and app mirroring. Nothing confirms which of these will reach the A17 5G, and budget phones often miss hardware-dependent or AI-heavy features.
This is an internal firmware sighting, so there is nothing to download from the Software update menu yet. Samsung hasn’t announced a beta program or a release date for One UI 9.5 on the A17 5G, and it’s unclear whether the phone will be included in any early testing.
