A new leak adds a wrinkle to Apple’s foldable iPhone Ultra rumors that sounds cleaner in theory than it apparently looks in practice. According to leaker Ice Universe, the device’s rounded corners only apply to the outer edges of the display; the hinge-side center stays flat, creating a display that’s asymmetrical rather than uniformly rounded when folded.
That detail lines up closely with earlier reports describing a single continuous OLED panel that software reshapes for the folded state, rather than two separate screen halves. But this newer leak suggests the effect isn’t purely cosmetic sleight-of-hand; it reportedly leaves a small strip of unused black space on one side of the folded display, the kind of asymmetry described as easy to miss at first glance but hard to unsee once noticed.
It’s a strange trade-off for a company known for symmetry-obsessed design. Supply-chain reports have consistently pointed to a book-style foldable with a roughly 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch outer screen, so the rounded-corner treatment would apply across a genuinely large panel, not a small one where the asymmetry might go unnoticed.
None of this is confirmed, and Apple hasn’t acknowledged a foldable iPhone Ultra exists. But if accurate, buyers weighing Apple’s first fold against Samsung’s more established Z Fold line will want to see this detail in person before assuming Apple solved every foldable-display quirk on the first try.
