Vivo’s S-series is officially back in India after years on the sidelines, and the S2’s complete spec sheet is now live on Vivo’s own product page ahead of today’s August 6 launch event. The phone is open for prebooking, with Vivo confirming the box carries an MRP of ₹66,999 though retail pricing is expected to land considerably lower, likely in the ₹40,000-45,000 range once launch offers and exchange discounts kick in.
Display and Design
The headline feature is a 6.83-inch curved AMOLED panel running 2800×1260 resolution at up to 120Hz, hitting a claimed 3,000 nits of peak brightness with full P3 color coverage. That’s genuinely bright for this segment; most rivals around this price point still cap out closer to 1,500-2,000 units. The phone ships in Silk White, Sapphire Blue, and Regal Bronze, weighing either 197g or 199g depending on the colorway, with a “skyline” camera module that breaks from the horizontal pill-shaped housing most current Vivo phones use.
Performance and Storage
Power comes from MediaTek’s Dimensity 7360-Turbo, an octa-core 4nm chip, paired with 8GB of RAM across both the 128GB and 256GB storage configurations. One notable trade-off: there’s no expandable storage via microSD, and the RAM itself is LPDDR4X rather than the faster LPDDR5X found on pricier competitors, a clear cost-cutting choice given how the phone is positioned.
Camera
The rear setup pairs a 50MP Sony IMX852 main sensor with a modest 2MP bokeh camera, backed by a 32MP front camera capable of 4K video on both sides. Vivo is also including its Aura Light Portrait flash system and an upgraded AI Erase 2.0 object-removal tool, features aimed squarely at social content creators rather than pushing telephoto or ultrawide versatility.
Battery and Durability
The 7,050mAh “BlueVolt” battery is one of the largest in this price bracket, though 44W wired charging is fairly modest next to some Chinese rivals now shipping 66W or higher at similar prices. Vivo is compensating with durability instead, stacking both IP68 and IP69 certifications meaning the S2 can handle both submersion and high-pressure, high-temperature water jets, a combination still uncommon outside flagship territory.
How It Stacks Up
Positioned under ₹45,000, the S2 lands directly against the OnePlus Nord 6 and Poco X8 Pro Max, with Vivo betting that display brightness, battery size, and India-based manufacturing (built in Uttar Pradesh) will be enough to win back buyers who’ve drifted to those rivals during the S-series’ long absence. Whether that’s enough depends heavily on today’s actual retail price, a number that still hasn’t been locked in even hours before launch.
