Four different Galaxy S27 Ultra cases have now leaked, and according to Chinese tipster Ice Universe, each one has gotten progressively more precise about the phone’s actual camera layout to the point where the most recent leak has raised a genuine question nobody’s answered yet.
The first case only outlined the rough size and position of the camera module, leaving the whole area open. The second added more specific cutouts, narrowing down where the main cameras actually sit. The third defined the module’s shape and boundaries more precisely, but still didn’t reveal what’s inside the vertical oval-shaped section on the right side. The fourth and most precise case finally shows individual openings within that oval: a third telephoto camera positioned at the top, with a noticeably smaller circular opening sitting just below it.
That detail actually corrects earlier CAD-based renders of the phone, which only showed the oval as a single shape without confirming what sat where inside it meaning the third camera’s exact position had partly been guesswork until now.
The problem is what’s missing. If the top opening is the telephoto camera and the smaller one below it is the LED flash, there’s no obvious spot left in that layout for the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s Laser AF sensor, a component every recent Ultra model has included for faster autofocus, particularly in low light. Right now, the case-based leaks simply don’t show where it would go.
It’s a reminder that even fairly precise case leaks don’t always tell the whole story. Case makers design around a phone’s exterior dimensions and camera cutouts, not necessarily every internal sensor, so a missing Laser AF opening could mean it’s tucked somewhere less obvious, integrated differently this generation, or just not yet visible in leaks this far from launch. Samsung’s Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra aren’t expected until early 2027, so there’s plenty of time for clearer leaks or an actual answer to the surface before then.
