Galaxy A16 Joins Samsung’s One UI 9 Beta Program 

Samsung has opened the One UI 9.0 beta for the Galaxy A16, and it’s live in India right now. The news comes just days after Samsung quietly set up a dedicated A16 beta section on its Indian Community forum, which had hinted a launch was coming without confirming a date.

Samsung hasn’t shared the beta’s build number, download size, or security patch level yet. An earlier internal One UI 9 build for the A16 5G (A166BXXU8EZF1) did turn up on Samsung’s servers for the European market, but that was a test build rather than this public beta, so it shouldn’t be treated as the current release.

Joining works the usual way: open Samsung Members, sign in, find the One UI 9 Beta Program banner, register, then check Settings, then Software update, then Download and install. Availability still depends on country, model, and CSC, so owning an A16 doesn’t guarantee the beta shows up.

The A16 follows the Galaxy A15 5G, which became the first A1x-series phone in the One UI 9 beta when it launched in India on September 22 at around 2.76GB with the September 2026 security patch. Seeing two entry-level A-series phones get Android 17 testing this close together shows how much further down the lineup Samsung is taking this beta than usual, well past the A36 and other mid-range models that were already in the program. Not every One UI 9 feature will necessarily make it to the A16, though, since Samsung tends to trim the list on lower-end hardware.

There’s no stable release date for the A16 yet. Samsung’s stable One UI 9 rollout is already underway on the Galaxy S26 series, but it’s moving in stages by model and market, and the A16 has only just entered beta.
