Galaxy S26 Series Gets Stable One UI 9

Almost five months after opening the beta program, Samsung has finally started rolling out the stable One UI 9.0 update to the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. The rollout is live in South Korea for now, going first to people already enrolled in the beta, with Samsung saying other countries should follow within days.

Beta testers are getting a comparatively light download, somewhere between 550MB and 650MB depending on the exact model and carrier, since they’re moving from a recent beta build rather than a full OS. Anyone still coming from One UI 8.5 should expect a much bigger jump, reportedly close to 4GB. Either way, this isn’t just a security patch riding along, it bundles the September 2026 Android security update on top of the full One UI 9 upgrade, based on Android 17.

Getting here took a while. Samsung opened the One UI 9 beta for the S26 series back in May across six markets at once, South Korea, Germany, India, Poland, the UK, and the US, then worked through seven beta builds and assorted hotfixes before calling it stable. That beta program has now officially closed, meaning testers move over to regular stable updates going forward rather than any further beta releases.

Checking manually works the usual way: Settings > Software update > Download and install, with more than 30% battery recommended before installing. If nothing shows up yet, that’s just the staged rollout, Samsung hasn’t said every region gets this at the same time, and availability will vary by country, carrier, and specific model.

Feature-wise, a lot of what’s landing here already showed up on Samsung’s Z series first. My FanCam keeps a chosen subject in frame automatically while recording, Now Brief gains customizable cards along with security and privacy insights, and Now Nudge gets smarter about surfacing contextual suggestions, the same trio that debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold8 lineup before making their way down to the S26 series. Call Brief, a more customizable Quick Panel, DeX refinements, and Game Booster tweaks round out the rest, alongside the usual pass of accessibility, privacy, and security improvements Samsung folds into every major One UI release.

One distinction worth keeping straight: this stable release is specific to the S26 family. The Galaxy S25 series, S25 FE, Z Fold7, and Z Flip7 are all still working through their One UI 9 beta testing separately, so none of those should be described as having received the stable update yet based on what’s confirmed so far.
