Apple releases iOS 26.4 beta 4 to developers

iOS 26.4

Apple has released the fourth developer beta of iOS 26.4 and iPadOS 26.4. The update arrives just a week after the previous beta, giving developers another chance to test new features and improvements.

Registered developers can download the latest beta through the Settings app by heading to General → Software Update on supported devices.

The notable addition in iOS 26.4 is a new AI-powered feature in Apple Music called Playlist Playground. The tool allows users to create playlists simply by entering a prompt that describes a mood, activity, or theme. The system then automatically generates a playlist that matches the request.

Apple Music is also receiving a visual refresh in this update. Albums and playlists now feature full-screen artwork, giving the app a more immersive look while browsing or playing music.

Another new addition is a “Concerts Near You” feature, designed to help users discover live music events in their area. The feature highlights upcoming shows from artists users listen to frequently and makes it easier to find local concerts.

Apple is currently testing end-to-end encryption for RCS messaging, which would allow secure communication between iPhones and Android devices using the RCS standard.

Security enhancements are also included in the update. Stolen Device Protection is now enabled by default, adding more protection to sensitive data if an iPhone is lost or stolen.

Alongside these major changes, the beta introduces a few smaller additions. There is a new Ambient Music widget for quick music playback from the home screen, and the Sleep feature in the Health app now provides average bedtime metrics to help users better track their sleep patterns.
