Touchscreen MacBook Pro Could Launch on November 6

Future OLED Macs and iPads May Get a Wider Color Gamut

Apple’s first touchscreen MacBook Pro could go on sale on Friday, November 6, following an announcement on October 27 or 28, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. He made the claim on his podcast, saying Apple stores are reportedly planning a “big floor reset” on the evening of November 5 into November 6, which could be preparation for the new Macs.

Gurman didn’t say Apple will hold a traditional event. Apple is reportedly planning a creator-focused gathering in Los Angeles in late October, and he suggested it will at least release videos. None of the dates are confirmed by Apple, and he has previously said the launch could slip into November.

The redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch models are reportedly not getting new chips. Gurman says they will use the same M5 Pro and M5 Max chips as the current MacBook Pro, while the M6 is tied to a separate, entry-level 14-inch model with no touchscreen. The OLED touchscreen versions could be sold as a higher-end option alongside the current mini-LED models.

On naming, Gurman once suggested “MacBook Ultra” but later said these would be part of the MacBook Pro line, though code in macOS 27.2 had pointed to that name. He has also said the redesign won’t be significantly thinner, so the emphasis is now on a lighter build rather than the much thinner one suggested in earlier reports. Earlier reports described a hole-punch camera cutout replacing the notch, possibly with a Dynamic Island-style element, and Apple hasn’t announced pricing.

We covered the original report that the laptops could arrive as soon as October, and the November 6 date is now the more specific timing.
