Apple’s long-rumored touchscreen MacBook Pro just got a narrower launch window. On the debut episode of his new “Power On” podcast for Bloomberg, Mark Gurman said he believes Apple will introduce the redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models as early as October 2026, or November at the latest tighter than earlier reports that placed the launch anywhere between late 2026 and early 2027.
These would be the first MacBook Pro models with an OLED display and the first with touch input of any kind, reportedly using on-cell touch sensors built into the display rather than a separate layer, plus a tandem OLED structure for better brightness and efficiency. Beyond the screen, reports point to a thinner build, a hole-punch camera cutout replacing the notch, and a possible Dynamic Island-style element though the physical keyboard, trackpad, and standard macOS interface are all expected to stay put, with touch added as an extra input rather than a replacement.
| Model | Rumored timing | Chip |
| Regular 14″ MacBook Pro | Fall 2026 | M6 |
| OLED Touch 14″/16″ | Oct/Nov 2026 | M5 Pro / M5 Max |
| Higher-end regular models | 2027 | M7 Pro / M7 Max |
That would put the touchscreen models at the top of a Mac lineup Apple’s been reshaping all year, with a budget-friendly MacBook Neo anchoring the other end. The final name is still unclear; some reports float “MacBook Ultra,” though Gurman keeps calling them touchscreen MacBook Pro models. Samsung Display is reported to be the sole supplier for these first OLED MacBook panels, and pricing is expected to land a few hundred dollars above today’s 1,999/2,499 starting points.
The clearest clue on timing: Apple is reportedly testing the new machines internally with macOS 27.2, due publicly in late October right in line with Gurman’s window. A rumor about built-in cellular connectivity remains unconfirmed and shouldn’t be treated as likely yet.
