TECNO Debuts Next-Gen 0mm Bezelless Concept Phone

TECNO says it’s cracked something Samsung’s own display engineers called physically impossible just over two weeks ago. Samsung Display told press on July 15 that 0.4mm was the hard floor for OLED bezels, since organic display layers need that much border to stay sealed from moisture. On July 31, TECNO announced its Next-Gen Bezelless Concept Phone, claiming a true 0mm border beating Samsung’s stated limit entirely, at least on paper.

That timing makes the claim worth treating cautiously until it’s independently verified. TECNO hasn’t published the engineering details behind how it eliminated that sealing margin, saying only that it used advanced internal component stacking, new display packaging, and a structural redesign of the handset. The real test comes September 3, when the concept debuts at IFA 2026 ShowStoppers in Berlin, the first chance for outside eyes to check whether the 0mm claim holds up against actual measurement rather than a promotional video.

Context matters here, and TECNO has a track record worth noting. Current flagship phones from Apple and Samsung sit around a 90% screen-to-body ratio, with Xiaomi and Honor pushing closer to 95%. TECNO is claiming 100%, and unlike a lot of concept-phone hype, the company has actually shipped a concept into retail before its IFA 2025 ultra-slim Spark concept became the commercial TECNO Slim, which reached markets earlier this year. That gives this claim more weight than a typical vaporware teaser, even if 0mm bezels are a much harder engineering problem than shaving overall thickness.

There’s also an obvious asterisk on the “seamless” pitch: the front camera still sits in a standard hole-punch cutout, so the display isn’t actually uninterrupted edge-to-edge glass, just borderless around the frame. TECNO shared comparison images against the iPhone 17 Pro to show the bezel gap, but didn’t address how a true under-display camera might close that remaining gap in a future version.

TECNO hasn’t said whether this design will ever ship commercially, and there’s no display size, chipset, or pricing attached to it. But given Samsung just staked out 0.4mm as the physical limit and TECNO is now publicly claiming to have blown past it, September’s IFA showing is shaping up to be a genuine referendum on whether that number is real, not just another concept phone nobody outside China will ever actually buy.
