OPPO just gave the A-series its biggest battery yet. The newly unveiled OPPO A7 Pro Max packs a 10,000mAh cell, the first time OPPO has put a five-digit battery capacity in any of its phones. For a company that’s built its budget and mid-range lineup around all-day endurance, this is the loudest statement yet that battery life, not raw performance, is the pitch.
Battery First
The headline number is hard to ignore. 10,000mAh is roughly double what you’d find in most flagship phones, including Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra at 5,000mAh, and it’s a huge jump from the 5,000-6,000mAh range OPPO’s own A-series has typically shipped with. Charging is handled by 80W SuperVOOC, which won’t set speed records but should be more than enough to top up a battery this large overnight or during a lunch break.
What’s genuinely impressive is that OPPO didn’t turn this into a brick to do it. The A7 Pro Max measures 8.47mm thick and weighs 226g, numbers that are chunky by flagship standards but surprisingly restrained for a battery this size. A few years ago, a 10,000mAh phone would have been a novelty device closer to 300g. This one isn’t.
Solid, Not Spectacular, Everywhere Else
The rest of the spec sheet reads like a competent mid-ranger built to support that battery rather than steal the spotlight. There’s a 6.78-inch OLED display running at 1.5K resolution and 120Hz, with a flat panel design and an in-display fingerprint scanner. Power comes from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, according to reported configurations OPPO hasn’t fully confirmed.
Cameras are similarly modest: a 50MP main sensor with a 2MP auxiliary lens on the back, and a 50MP front camera clearly aimed at selfie-focused buyers rather than photography enthusiasts. Software-wise, the phone runs ColorOS 16 on top of Android 16, with AI-powered photography tools expected to be part of the package.
OPPO is also leaning into durability, reportedly giving the A7 Pro Max an IP69K rating, which would make it resistant to high-pressure, high-temperature water jets, not just splashes. It’ll come in Dark Gray, Bright Orange, and Wave Blue, with a large rectangular camera module that OPPO is positioning as premium-looking despite the phone’s bulk.
Availability
OPPO A7 Pro Max goes on sale August 7. The base 8GB/128GB model starts at 2,199 yuan (roughly $325), with the 12GB/256GB variant at 2,699 yuan (~$400) and the top 12GB/512GB configuration at 2,999 yuan (~$445). That undercuts most flagship pricing by a wide margin, which makes sense given the mid-range internals, but it’s a reasonable ask for a phone built around this much battery and an IP69K rating. OPPO hasn’t confirmed markets beyond China yet, though rumors point to a possible rebrand as the OPPO F35 Pro in India down the line.
For anyone who’s tired of charging their phone twice a day, the A7 Pro Max is a reminder that battery innovation doesn’t always mean silicon-stacked breakthroughs. Sometimes it’s just a company deciding to build a bigger battery and figuring out the engineering afterward.
