iOS 27.3 Beta Brings Back the Redesigned Health App and Adds Reachability to the iPhone Duo

Apple’s redesigned Health app is back in testing. It first appeared during the iOS 27.2 betas but was pulled before that update’s final release, and it returned in the first iOS 27.3 developer beta on November 3. The same beta also adds Reachability to the iPhone Duo’s outer display. Apple released the first public beta on November 5, and the stable release is expected in December.

According to Apple’s newsroom post, the new Insights tab pulls heart, sleep, readiness, fitness, vitals and cycle tracking data into daily summaries. A For You section adds recommendations, such as adjusting a wind-down routine after several nights of interrupted sleep. The Longevity tab tracks heart health, sleep, mental wellbeing, movement, metabolic health, hearing and nutrition over longer periods. Its centerpiece is Health Age, which turns Apple Watch data, including VO2 max, resting heart rate, sleep and heart rate variability, into a metric showing how the body is tracking relative to chronological age. Users can also add lab results such as A1c and LDL cholesterol.

The at-home movement evaluations combine the iPhone camera with Apple Watch to measure flexibility, strength, balance, movement mechanics and VO2 max, with real-time audio and visual feedback. Apple says the vision-based AI models run entirely on device and no video is recorded, stored or shared. The app needs an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, some features are iPhone-only or limited to users 18 and older, and the VO2 max test needs an Apple Watch, AirPods Pro 3 or a third-party heart rate sensing device. Supported languages are global English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish and Vietnamese. English is on the list for readers in Pakistan, though Apple notes some features may not be available in every region.

On the iPhone Duo, Reachability works sideways rather than downward. With the phone closed, a short swipe left on the left edge or right on the right edge shifts the outer display’s content in that direction, bringing the far side closer to the thumb. The setting sits under Settings, Accessibility, Touch, Reachability, and it is reportedly on by default after updating. The Duo launched on October 23 without the feature, and it had already picked up Apple Pencil support with iOS 27.2.

Public beta testers can install the build through Apple’s Beta Software Program, then choose it from Settings, General, Software Update, Beta Updates. Backing up first, or using a secondary device, is the safer route.
