Galaxy A33 5G Gets August 2026 Security Update

The update fixes 56 security vulnerabilities identified in the previous software version, covering both Google Android issues and Samsung-specific fixes, in line with Samsung’s usual monthly security bulletin structure. It replaces the A33’s July 2026 patch (firmware A336EDXSJGZG3), which addressed 57 vulnerabilities of its own making August a fairly typical, direct successor to that release.

It’s worth being clear about where the A33 stands in its update lifecycle. Samsung launched the phone in 2022 with a promise of four major Android upgrades, and it’s already worked through Android 13, 14, 15, and 16 meaning One UI 8/Android 16 is as far as the A33’s major OS updates go. It won’t be getting One UI 9 or Android 17, unlike some other Galaxy A-series phones from around the same era, such as the Galaxy A36, which is still receiving new major updates. That doesn’t mean support has ended entirely, though Samsung is expected to keep shipping quarterly security patches for the A33 through 2027, so August’s update is far from the phone’s last.

As usual, the rollout isn’t simultaneous everywhere. Samsung distributes firmware region by region, so an A33 owner not seeing the update yet shouldn’t assume anything’s wrong; it’s more likely just a staged rollout still working its way to their market. Checking for it manually just means going to Settings, then Software update, then Download and install.

Since this is a security-only release, there’s nothing new to expect on the interface side, no fresh Galaxy AI features, no visual changes, just the underlying protection getting patched up.

Samsung’s official security bulletin has the complete list of August 2026 vulnerabilities addressed across Galaxy devices.
