Samsung has begun rolling out the September 2026 security patch to the Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A56 5G, with South Korea as the first confirmed market and a wider international rollout expected over the coming days. This is a standalone security update, separate from the One UI 9 stable release both phones are still working toward.
The Korean builds carry firmware A556SKSSBDZI1 on the A55 and A566SKSSACZI1 on the A56, both bringing the September 2026 patch level. Per Samsung’s security bulletin, this month’s package addresses 90 vulnerabilities in total 19 critical and 38 high-severity Google issues, 31 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVEs), and one high-severity Samsung Semiconductor fix. Some of the disclosed Samsung-specific issues touch components like DualDAR, ActivityTaskManagerService, GalaxyDiagnostics, and SystemUI for instance, one DualDAR flaw could have let a local privileged attacker run arbitrary code with root access, while an ActivityTaskManagerService bug could have allowed an activity to launch without proper authentication.
It’s worth being clear about what this update isn’t. Both the A55 and A56 are already part of Samsung’s One UI 9 beta program, running on Android 17, and the A55’s beta build separately carries this same September patch at around 2.1GB. But that’s a beta channel; this security rollout is the regular, stable-track update, and it doesn’t mean stable One UI 9 has landed for either device. That remains a separate release Samsung hasn’t dated yet.
South Korea is the only confirmed market so far, with Samsung typically expanding security patches gradually by country and carrier variant over the following days. Owners elsewhere who don’t see the update yet aren’t necessarily being skipped; they can check manually under Settings → Software update → Download and install.
Before this rollout, both phones were running the August 2026 security patch, which covered 56 issues under firmware A556SKSSADZH3 for the A55 and A566SKSS9CZH9 for the A56. September’s update moves both devices to the current monthly security level.
Samsung has generally prioritized flagships and newer devices for monthly patches, so seeing the A55 and A56 both aging mid-rangers receive the September update relatively early is notable. It also shows Samsung maintaining monthly security support in parallel with active One UI 9 testing, a pattern that’s held for other A-series phones like the Galaxy A57 as Samsung pushes both software tracks forward at once.
