Galaxy S27 Edge Could Make a 2027 Comeback 

Samsung’s ultra-thin flagship experiment might not be dead after all. Two separate rumors are now pointing toward a Galaxy S27 Edge for 2027, and the specifics couldn’t be more different from each other.

According to tipster @kro_roe, the S27 Edge could ship with a 5.8-inch display, a 4,300mAh battery, and a body that dips into the low-4mm range for thickness. That’s a genuinely small screen for a modern flagship, but the battery figure is what stands out more, since it’s actually bigger than what’s inside the current Galaxy S25 Edge despite the phone reportedly being thinner.

A second, conflicting report describes something closer to what Samsung already sells: a 6.8-inch display paired with 5.4mm thickness. That version reads more like a mild refresh of the S25 Edge’s existing footprint rather than a dramatic redesign.

Samsung’s official specs for the Galaxy S25 Edge give a useful baseline here: a 6.7-inch display, 5.8mm thickness, 163g weight, a titanium frame, a 3,900mAh battery, and a 200MP main camera paired with a 12MP ultrawide. Either rumored S27 Edge configuration would be a step forward on paper, but the low-4mm version is the one worth watching, since fitting a bigger battery into a thinner chassis isn’t something Samsung has managed in this lineup so far.

That’s really the whole story with the Edge line: battery life. Weak battery performance is one of the bigger criticisms that followed the S25 Edge after launch, and it’s reportedly part of why Samsung walked away from doing a Galaxy S26 Edge entirely, bringing back the Galaxy S26+ in its place instead. So this S27 Edge rumor is essentially Samsung getting a second shot at the same idea, one generation later.

Silicon-carbon battery tech could be what changes the equation this time. Samsung already uses Si-C batteries across its newest foldables, and expanding that to more of the Galaxy lineup in 2027 would line up neatly with the timing of an Edge comeback. The tech allows for higher energy density, meaning Samsung could theoretically pack in more capacity without needing extra physical space, exactly the tradeoff the Edge line has struggled with so far.

Then there’s the rest of the S27 family to factor in. Earlier reporting pointed to a four-phone lineup, including a redesigned Galaxy S27 Pro and a Galaxy S27 Ultra with a reworked camera module. If the Edge does show up as a fifth model, Samsung’s 2027 flagship lineup would end up considerably more crowded than usual, though that five-phone scenario isn’t confirmed anywhere yet.

There’s also the chip side of things. Qualcomm has already teased two separate Snapdragon 8 Elite chips for this generation, which raises its own question of where an Edge model would slot into that split.

Timing is worth setting expectations around too. The S25 Edge didn’t launch alongside the main S25 series; it arrived roughly four months later, in May 2025. If Samsung repeats that pattern, an S27 Edge likely wouldn’t debut alongside the rest of the lineup in early 2027, and would instead show up separately later in the year.

There’s also a competitive angle worth a mention: Apple is reportedly working on an iPhone Air 2 for 2027, which could give Samsung another reason to stay in the ultra-thin category rather than quietly retire it. Whether that’s actually shaping Samsung’s plans or just good timing is hard to say, but it does mean the ultra-thin race could get busier again by the time either phone arrives.
