Samsung has begun rolling out the August 2026 security patch to the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra, starting with South Korea before it expands to other regions. The update lands as firmware S901NKSS9GZH3 on the base S22, S906NKSS9GZH3 on the S22+, and S908NKSS9GZH3 on the S22 Ultra.
The package fixes 56 vulnerabilities in total, split between 38 Google CVEs and 18 Samsung-specific SVEs. Of those, 8 of the Google fixes carry a Critical rating and 30 are rated High, while Samsung’s own portion includes 2 High-severity fixes, 14 rated Moderate, and 2 with priority that hasn’t been disclosed. The Samsung-side fixes touch areas including Weaver, Galaxy Themes, Samsung Contacts, SMS-related components, and radio-related system parts. One of the more notable fixes closes an improper access-control issue in Weaver that a local attacker could otherwise use to make a device inoperable, and another patches a Galaxy Themes flaw that could let a physical attacker launch an arbitrary activity on the device.
Availability is limited to South Korea for now, and rollout speed for the S22 series tends to vary by model, carrier, and CSC, so it may take a few days to reach other markets. Anyone on a Galaxy S22 can check by heading to Settings, then Software update, then Download and install.
Despite the size of the patch, this isn’t tied to a new One UI or Android release. The Galaxy S22 launched back in 2022 with a promise of four generations of Android upgrades and five years of security support, and it’s now settled into Samsung’s quarterly security schedule rather than the monthly cadence newer phones get. That also explains the timing: Samsung published the August 2026 security bulletin itself on August 4, but the S22 series only picked it up now because it’s on a three-month update rhythm instead of a monthly one. Current reporting suggests One UI 8.5 will end up being the last major feature update the S22 family sees, with Android 17 and One UI 9 not expected to reach these phones at all.

The rollout was first spotted on September 1, 2026, with the South Korean release covering the regular S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra models. Given the S22 series is now several years old, Samsung shipping a patch this large with multiple critical and high-severity fixes included shows the phone hasn’t been left behind on the security side even after losing out on further Android upgrades.
