A Geekbench listing spotted on August 7, 2026 has given the first real look at what’s under the hood of the Galaxy A18 4G, and it confirms a chip choice that’s been rumored for a while: MediaTek’s Helio G99, paired with 6GB of RAM. The benchmark puts the phone at roughly 738 in single-core and 2,025 in multi-core, numbers that fit squarely in budget territory rather than anything trying to impress. The listing also shows the phone running Android 17, which lines up with expectations that the A18 series will launch with One UI 9 on top.
What’s more interesting than the raw scores is what this listing confirms about Samsung’s chip strategy. The A18 4G is going with Helio G99, while the A18 5G is reportedly getting a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip instead, a split that also marks a departure from the outgoing A17 5G, which used Samsung’s own Exynos 1330. Moving away from Exynos on the 5G variant suggests Samsung is leaning on Qualcomm for better modem and efficiency consistency across regions, at least for this generation.
Design-wise, earlier leaks still point to a familiar Galaxy A formula: a 6.7-inch display and a 50MP main camera, nothing that breaks from what the series has done for years. Reports also suggest mass production of the 4G model could start this month, with it reaching shelves ahead of the 5G version.
None of this is official yet, and Samsung hasn’t given a launch date or price. But a Geekbench appearance this close to reported mass production usually means the wait is measured in weeks, not months.
