Samsung made it official today. One UI 8.5 has begun its stable rollout starting May 6, 2026 first landing in South Korea before expanding to the US, Europe, and other regions in phases. If you own a Galaxy S25 or S24 series device, this update is heading your way soon.

The Galaxy S25 series gets it first, as expected. S24 devices follow in the next wave, with Galaxy S25 FE, foldables, and tablets all included in the broader rollout. Exact timing depends on your country and carrier so don’t panic if your notification hasn’t arrived yet.

The headline upgrade is Galaxy AI. Samsung has pushed deeper into on-device intelligence with smarter task prediction, an AI-powered keyboard suggestion system called “Now Nudge”, and improved communication tools throughout the system. The goal is clearly keeping pace with Apple’s incoming iOS 27 Siri overhaul and Google’s Gemini-powered Android features. AI is no longer a feature category for Samsung. It’s the whole strategy.

Beyond AI, the update brings refined blur effects and visual polish, updated floating UI elements, cleaner Quick Settings, and improved Quick Share for better cross-device file transfer. Performance gets attention to smoother animations and stability improvements baked in after months of beta testing. Security controls have also been tightened.

One UI 8.5 sits on Android 16 the same base already running on the Galaxy S26 series out of the box.

Check Settings → Software Update today. If it’s not there yet, it’s coming shortly.
