Samsung has confirmed that One UI 9 has officially begun rolling out to the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra, following its earlier debut on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8. The update is based on Android 17 and will gradually extend to more Galaxy devices from here.
Main One UI 9 features
A few new tools stand out in this release. My FanCam can automatically track a selected person in an existing video and intelligently reframe the footage to keep them centered as the scene moves, turning everyday clips into social-ready content without manual editing. Now Brief gets Generative Cards and Editable Cards, letting users customize exactly what shows up in their daily summary rather than getting a fixed layout. Now Nudge adds context-aware suggestions that surface without pulling users out of what they’re doing, so it can pull up reservation details or save a shared location straight from a conversation.
Creative Studio can now suggest image-generation ideas tied to upcoming events, like prompting a birthday-themed image ahead of a friend’s birthday. Interpreter picks up a new Thread View for translated conversations, along with faster Conversation Mode translation and quicker playback on compatible Galaxy Buds. Document Scan handles trickier documents, including curved book pages and folded corners, with less manual adjustment needed, and Voice Recorder now produces clearer, more structured summaries using headings and tables instead of plain text blocks.
Security and privacy
Samsung is also highlighting three features on the security side. Security Brief folds important security and privacy alerts directly into Now Brief. Privacy Alerts uses on-device AI to flag potential privacy risks, including apps trying to access permissions unnecessarily in the background. And Scam Detection is expanding to more countries and languages to widen protection against scam calls.
That expansion is notable for Indian users specifically: Samsung says Scam Detection will now be available in India, alongside Japan and Canada.
Which devices are confirmed?
Samsung’s own footnotes list a fairly wide range of devices getting Privacy Alerts support with this rollout:

That’s a broad spread across Samsung’s recent flagship phones, foldables, and tablets, though Samsung notes that overall feature availability can still vary by device, region, and software version, so not every One UI 9 feature listed above is guaranteed to show up the same way on every device in that list. For now, the S26 series is first in line, with the rest of the eligible lineup set to follow in phases.
