Motorola is reportedly preparing to enter the book-style foldable segment with its own large-screen foldable device, tipped to be revealed around CES 2026 in early January. This would mark a major shift for the company, which until now has focused almost exclusively on clamshell-style Razr flip phones.
The upcoming handset widely referred to as the Motorola Razr Fold in leaks is expected to compete directly with established book-style foldables like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series and Google’s Pixel Fold. Early renders and marketing material shared by tipsters show a device that opens like a notebook, offering a larger inner display suited for multitasking and productivity.
Unlike Motorola’s existing Razr models, which fold vertically, the Razr Fold adopts a horizontal book-type form factor that delivers a tablet-like experience when unfolded. Leaked images indicate a tall, narrow outer screen and a more square-ish inner panel, a layout similar to Samsung’s foldables that’s optimised for both portrait browsing and split-screen apps. There are also design cues hinting at stylus support, potentially branded as Moto Pen Ultra, which would be a unique feature not currently emphasised on many rivals.
Renders circulating online show the Razr Fold in at least two finishes, including a sleek dark variant and a lighter premium option. The rear camera array appears prominent, suggesting Moto may push imaging performance as a standout aspect of the device, something crucial if it wants to challenge heavyweights like Samsung.
Motorola’s teaser campaign for CES 2026 has leaned into the idea of “folding possibilities,” and industry observers expect a first look at the new foldable during the show rather than a full launch. Official details like final specifications, pricing, and exact release timing have not been confirmed, but the company is expected to provide further information at, or shortly after, the CES event.
