Apple released iOS 27.2 beta 3 on October 5, 2026, exactly two weeks after beta 2. The new build number is 24B5099f, and it’s currently available to registered developers. Apple hasn’t announced a major new user-facing feature specifically for this build, and early reports suggest it mainly continues testing, bug fixes and refinements to what the first two betas introduced.
Even so, iOS 27.2 as a whole is shaping up to be a meaningful update. The biggest addition is a redesigned Health app built around three sections: Insights, Longevity and Browse. Insights surfaces relevant information such as vitals, sleep and activity data, while Longevity introduces Health Age, which compares your health-related metrics with your actual age. Apple is also adding iPhone camera assessments that evaluate flexibility, strength, balance and VO₂ max. In the beta, the new Health experience is limited to U.S. English.
Siri AI also gains language support, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish added. Apple had previously said these languages would arrive during October. Elsewhere, the Apple TV app is getting user profiles on iPhone and iPad, each with its own name, content-rating settings and viewing preferences, plus child profiles where parents can pick age ratings for movies and TV shows. Dual Capture, introduced in iOS 27 to use the front and rear cameras at the same time, is being extended to Group FaceTime, so you can show yourself and what you’re looking at during a group call.
The smaller changes are spread across Apple’s apps. Podcasts renames Up Next to New Episodes and adds a Continue Playing section for shows already in progress, along with color-matched backgrounds on episode lists. Apple Music tones down some of its red, with Library controls like Play and Shuffle now using black. CarPlay Ultra gets themes that customize wallpaper, gauge style and colors, and code suggests compatible vehicles could sync their ambient lighting with the chosen theme. Call Context also adds an anniversary reminder that appears in the Phone app when you call someone whose anniversary is saved in Contacts, and iOS 27.2 appears to enable Apple’s previously announced ASL FaceTime API for sign-language interpretation apps.
The most important technical change is for users in the EU. According to Apple’s iOS 27.2 beta release notes, App Tracking Transparency now supports an alternative expanded prompt and yearly re-prompting, and the alternative prompt is required in France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Romania.
You might wonder why there’s no iOS 27.1 beta. Apple went straight to iOS 27.2 because iOS 27.1 is being developed specifically for the iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable iPhone, which Apple’s developer documentation says launches on October 23 with iOS 27.1. That update contains software built around the foldable’s displays, orientations and layouts, so the sequence is effectively iOS 27, then iOS 27.1 for the iPhone Duo, then iOS 27.2 for the broader iPhone and iPad rollout. Apple hasn’t announced a release date for the final iOS 27.2, but the timing suggests it could land after the iPhone Duo launch.
