Samsung has started rolling out stable One UI 9, based on Android 17, to the Galaxy S23 series, beginning with One UI 9 beta testers in South Korea. The release was spotted in a Samsung Members Korea thread titled “S23U One UI 9 beta ended,” posted by a community member rather than Samsung staff, and SamMobile and Sammy Fans have since reported the stable build. It follows an earlier report that the update could arrive within days, which we covered earlier.
| Detail | Galaxy S23 series |
| Software | One UI 9.0, Android 17 |
| Region | South Korea |
| First recipients | One UI 9 beta users |
| Build | Ends in GZIF |
| Download size | Under 500MB for beta users |
| Security patch | October 2026 |
The small download applies only to beta testers moving to the final build. People on One UI 8.5 should expect a much larger package, which SammyGuru puts at around 3GB. The October patch is a step ahead of the September patch the S23 series received earlier, and a commenter in the thread says the S25 and S24 series don’t have it yet.
Wider availability is expected in the coming days, though SammyGuru says most global markets may not see it until next week. Samsung hasn’t announced dates, and regular non-beta S23 owners in South Korea are expected to follow. Sammy Fans says the Galaxy S23 FE should get the update soon too, but the report only confirms the S23 series so far. Samsung hasn’t published an S23-specific feature list, and it is unclear whether every One UI 9 AI feature will carry over.
One UI 9 is expected to be the last major Android upgrade for the S23 series. To check for the update, open Settings, tap Software update, then Download and install.
