Mark your calendar, but don’t panic-buy just yet. Report claims Apple could push through a global iPhone 17 price increase as soon as Monday, August 10, blaming it on rising memory and storage component costs. That’s a plausible motive Apple has already raised prices on several other hardware products this year for the same reason but the claim itself is thin.
Apple’s US store currently lists the iPhone 17e at $599, the iPhone 17 at $799, iPhone Air at $999, iPhone 17 Pro at $1,099, and iPhone 17 Pro Max at $1,199. Those are confirmed, live prices today. Everything past that whether all five models get bumped, by how much, or whether it happens at all is speculation dressed up as a leak.
Apple typically saves price moves for a launch event, not a random Monday in the middle of a sales cycle. That’s what makes this rumor interesting even if it’s shaky: reports suggest the standard iPhone 18 won’t arrive until later than usual, which would stretch the iPhone 17’s shelf life and give Apple more reason to adjust pricing mid-cycle. Separately, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup is already rumored to launch at a higher price point next year, with the foldable iPhone expected to sit even further above that. If true, a modest iPhone 17 increase now could just be Apple easing customers into a higher price ceiling before the real jump arrives in September.
Nothing here is official. If you’re eyeing an iPhone 17, buying before Monday costs you nothing but a little patience and if the rumor turns out to be noise, you haven’t missed anything at all.
