Xiaomi has confirmed the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will launch in China this September, bringing back the rear “Versatile Back Screen” on the Pro models. But the benchmark story building up to launch has gotten genuinely messy, with two separate Geekbench listings both claimed to be the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max and they don’t agree with each other.
The first listing, model number M1544F, showed up carrying a chip identified as Qualcomm’s unreleased SM8975 (tentatively called Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro), 12GB of RAM, an Adreno 850 GPU, and Android 17 with HyperOS 4 on top. It scored 3,582 single-core and 12,247 multi-core on Geekbench 7. Notebookcheck initially reported this as the Pro Max, then walked that back saying the listing looked like a spoofed Qualcomm reference device rather than an actual Xiaomi phone before a further update on September 17 said Geekbench’s own backend data confirmed M1544F really was registered as the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max after all, with the regular Xiaomi 18 Pro appearing separately under a different number.
Then a second listing surfaced under model number M610BB, also claimed as the Pro Max, with 16GB of RAM and Android 17 but scoring meaningfully lower, in the 2,800–3,400 single-core and 8,800–10,900 multi-core range depending on which outlet’s capture you look at. The problem is that M610BB has also been separately reported as belonging to the regular Xiaomi 18 Pro, not the Pro Max, which is why outlets aren’t in agreement on which device this listing actually represents. Gadgets360 has called it the Pro Max; other coverage identifies it as the standard Pro.
Given that conflict, neither set of numbers should be treated as a settled Pro Max score; they’re better described as early, possibly pre-production benchmark results tied to devices whose exact identity is still disputed. Geekbench listings for unreleased phones are routinely run on prototype hardware anyway, so even a confirmed number wouldn’t necessarily match what ships at retail.
What’s actually solid here is smaller but clearer: Xiaomi has officially shown the Versatile Back Screen returning on the Pro series with expanded app support, confirmed a September China launch without giving an exact date, and teased Leica branding on the cameras. Everything else, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 naming, the exact RAM configuration, a battery rumored around 8,000mAh remains reported rather than confirmed, in the same way early leaks around Xiaomi’s previous flagship generation shifted somewhat by the time phones actually reached shelves.
