Apple has raised the out-of-warranty battery replacement fee for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max to $129 in the US, a $10 bump over the $119 fee charged for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max about an 8.4% increase.

ModelBattery replacement
iPhone 17 Pro / Pro Max$119
iPhone 18 Pro / Pro Max$129

Apple hasn’t explicitly said the increase is tied to the larger batteries inside these phones, but the timing lines up EU regulatory listings put the iPhone 18 Pro at 4,056mAh and the Pro Max at 5,391mAh, both notably bigger than last year’s models, continuing the kind of battery-capacity race between Apple and its Android rivals that’s been picking up generation over generation, alongside Apple’s updated battery design that’s also behind this generation’s faster charging.

It’s worth being clear this is only the service fee, not a price hike on the phones themselves, and it doesn’t apply to screen or other accidental damage. AppleCare+ owners are unaffected either way Apple replaces the battery free once it drops below 80% of original capacity, checkable under Settings, then Battery, then Battery Health. The $129 figure is confirmed for the US specifically; Apple’s repair pricing varies by region, so it shouldn’t be assumed to convert directly elsewhere.

Apple’s battery service page has the current pricing.
