Neither update is mandatory. iPhone owners can install iOS 26.7 and remain on the iOS 26 experience, or move straight to iOS 27 for the new design and AI features. Apple hasn’t published the specific vulnerabilities patched in iOS 26.7 yet, which is standard practice that detail usually follows once the update has had time to roll out.
