Galaxy A55 Joins the One UI 9 Beta Program

Samsung has kicked off the One UI 9.0 beta for the Galaxy A55, starting in South Korea, following weeks of internal testing that had already hinted the phone was in line for the program. The update is based on Android 17 and carries firmware A556SKSUAZZI1, weighing in at roughly 2.1GB.

Samsung typically runs its One UI beta program in a handful of markets rather than globally, and while the company’s beta page has previously listed countries including Germany, India, Poland, the UK, and the US alongside South Korea, that doesn’t mean the A55 beta is live everywhere on that list yet South Korea is the only confirmed market so far, with wider availability expected to follow.

Joining requires the usual process: open Samsung Members, sign in, find the One UI 9 Beta Program banner, and register the A55, then head to Settings, then Software update, then Download and install. As with any first beta, it’s worth backing up important data beforehand, since early builds can carry bugs or stability issues that later updates iron out.

The A55 launched back in 2024, so its inclusion here is a reminder that Samsung’s Android 17 testing isn’t limited to its newest flagships; the A55 has already been succeeded on shelves by the Galaxy A56, yet it’s still getting the same beta treatment as more recent hardware. It joins the A36, A56, and A57 as A-series phones now in the One UI 9 beta program, though Samsung hasn’t confirmed that every eligible A-series device will get a public beta, so one model’s inclusion shouldn’t be read as a guarantee for another.

There’s no stable release date yet, and the beta will likely go through additional builds before Samsung finalizes it. Samsung’s own Community post confirms the Korea rollout and firmware details directly.
