Xiaomi isn’t done with the 17 series yet. The company just officially confirmed the Xiaomi 17 Max and the early details suggest this isn’t just a bigger Xiaomi 17. Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing described it as a “fully upgraded” version of the standard model, and the specs backing that claim are genuinely hard to ignore.
The screen alone sets the tone of a 6.9-inch flat 1.5K LTPO panel at 120Hz with slim bezels on all sides. It’s a big phone built for people who want a proper large-screen flagship without going Ultra. Three confirmed colors Black, Blue, and White with the blue variant looking particularly clean in official teaser images on Weibo.
The camera system is where things get serious. Xiaomi confirmed Leica branding meaning the full Leica tuning partnership continues here. Expected specs point to a 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP-series main sensor, 50MP ultrawide, and 50MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom. The redesigned rear module uses a rounded-square layout cleaner than the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s massive circular island and closer to the Xiaomi 15 series aesthetic.

The battery rumour is the biggest talking point: a reported 8,000mAh cell with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. If accurate, that’s the largest battery Xiaomi has ever put in a flagship by a meaningful margin.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 expected inside. Launch coming later this month in China. Estimated starting price around CNY 5,199 (~$765).
Pre-reservations are already open. If battery life and big-screen Leica photography matter to you, this one deserves your attention.
