The wall between Android and iPhone file sharing is finally coming down. Google announced at The Android Show / Google I/O 2026 that Quick Share is getting full AirDrop interoperability meaning supported Android phones can now send and receive files directly with iPhones, iPads, and Macs. No apps, no cloud uploads, no workarounds.
Google didn’t reverse-engineer AirDrop. Instead it built a compatibility bridge inside Quick Share that makes supported Android devices visible inside Apple’s own AirDrop interface. The setup is simple Quick Share enabled on Android, AirDrop set to “Everyone” on the Apple device. That’s it.
The devices that support it right now are: Pixel 10, Pixel 9, Pixel 8a, Galaxy S26, OPPO Find X9 series, Find N6, and Vivo X300 Ultra. More are confirmed coming soon Galaxy S25, S24, Z Fold7, Z Flip7, Z Fold6, Z Flip6, OnePlus 15, HONOR Magic V6, HONOR Magic 8 Pro, and OPPO Find X8. Xiaomi support is confirmed but specific models haven’t been announced yet.
For phones that don’t make the list, Google introduced a QR code fallback Quick Share generates a code, the iPhone scans it, and files transfer through Google’s cloud. That rollout is already live and should reach all Android devices within a month.
The criticism online is fair though Pixel 8 and 8 Pro are notably absent, and the flagship-only rollout feels artificially restricted to many users.
Check your Quick Share settings today if your phone is on the list, this feature may already be waiting.
