Leaked screen protectors for Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone are showing something odd: the corners aren’t matched. One side looks more squared off, the opposite side is rounded, instead of the usual four-corners-the-same look every iPhone has had. Turns out that’s probably not a mistake, it’s the hinge.
Think about it this way. On a book-style foldable, one edge of the device has to house the hinge mechanism, and that side just doesn’t fold the same way the opposite edge does. So when the phone’s closed, you end up with a shape that isn’t perfectly symmetrical, square-ish on the hinge side, rounded on the other. Once you unfold it, though, the internal display is expected to look far more balanced and normal, since that’s the screen actually doing the work. This is really just an interpretation based on what the protector looks like, not something Apple has confirmed, but it lines up with everything else we’ve heard about a Galaxy Z Fold-style design.
And there’s more piling up around this thing. Reports point to two selfie cameras crammed into the same corner, one covering the outer display, one for the inner screen when it’s open. A separate case leak apparently showed a MagSafe ring, so it sounds like Apple isn’t ditching magnetic charging just because the phone folds. Display-wise, the numbers being thrown around are roughly 7.7 to 7.8 inches for the inner screen and 5.3 to 5.5 inches on the outside, matching the wide, passport-style shape that’s been rumored for a while now rather than anything narrow or clamshell.
Timing-wise, 2026 is still the expected window, possibly landing alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, though don’t be shocked if supply issues push availability around a bit. If the asymmetric-corner leak holds up, this thing is going to look genuinely different sitting on a closed table, not just when you open it.
