Galaxy S25 Finally Gets the Stable One UI 9 Update

Samsung says One UI 9 has officially begun rolling out, starting with the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra, based on Android 17 and set to expand gradually to more Galaxy devices from here. Per Samsung’s own Newsroom India announcement, One UI 9 had already debuted earlier on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, and Z Flip8 before reaching the S26 lineup now.

My FanCam leads the feature list, automatically tracking a selected person inside a recorded video and intelligently reframing the footage to keep them centered as the scene moves, useful for turning a kid’s recital or a friend on the dance floor into something social-media-ready without manual editing. Now Brief picks up Generative and Editable Cards, letting users shape what shows up in their daily summary rather than accepting a fixed layout, while Now Nudge adds context-aware suggestions that surface without pulling you out of whatever you’re doing, pulling up reservation details or offering to save a shared location straight out of a conversation.

Creative Studio gets more proactive too, suggesting image-generation ideas tied to upcoming events, Samsung’s own example is prompting a birthday-themed image ahead of a friend’s birthday. Interpreter adds a Thread View for following translated conversations more easily, alongside faster Conversation Mode translation and quicker playback through compatible Galaxy Buds. On the productivity side, Document Scan now handles trickier source material, curved book pages, folded corners, with less manual straightening needed, and Voice Recorder organizes its summaries with actual headings and tables instead of a wall of text, a step up from what earlier One UI versions offered on the Galaxy AI front.

Security gets three specific additions. Security Brief folds important security and privacy alerts directly into Now Brief, Privacy Alerts uses on-device AI to flag potential privacy risks like apps quietly accessing permissions in the background, and Scam Detection is expanding its call-screening protection to more countries and languages. That’s a notably broad rollout for a single feature, spanning three generations of flagships, four generations of foldables, and three generations of tablets, well beyond the phones getting One UI 9 itself on day one. Samsung hasn’t given a full timeline for which device gets the update next, only that the broader One UI 9 push will continue expanding gradually across the rest of the Galaxy lineup.
