Samsung’s stable One UI 9 update launched in South Korea on September 16, but the international rollout date for the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra has shifted twice since then, and Samsung hasn’t explained why.
| Date | What Samsung said |
| September 16 | Stable rollout begins in South Korea |
| September 21 | Originally listed as the wider rollout date (Thailand, Canada newsroom) |
| September 22 | Thailand listing quietly changed to September 28 |
| September 22 (later) | September 28 removed too, now just “within September” |
Samsung’s Thailand newsroom was the most detailed of its regional announcements, originally pairing the S26 series with September 21 while the Galaxy S25 series and Z Fold7/Flip7 stayed on September 28. Once September 21 passed without an update landing, Samsung quietly moved the S26 series to the same September 28 date as those other devices then walked that back too a short time later, leaving only a general “within September” window for the S26, S25, and Z7 series.
There’s no official reason given for the change, though the most common assumption is that Samsung caught something during testing that needed more time before a wider release. It’s a bigger gap than usual between a Korea launch and the rest of the world. Normally that stretch is a matter of days, not going on two weeks, and it’s a rockier rollout than the S25 generation before it had to deal with.
The rollout isn’t completely stalled everywhere, though. SamMobile reports Samsung has started making the update available outside Korea, with the US among the first markets to get it, covering all three S26 models so the delay appears to be more about the announced schedule than a hard freeze on every region.
Samsung’s Community forum has users tracking the date changes as they’ve happened.
