Galaxy A15 5G Unexpectedly Joins the One UI 9 Beta Program

Samsung’s One UI 9 beta has just picked up an unexpected addition. The Galaxy A15 5G, one of Samsung’s more affordable A-series phones, has started receiving its first One UI 9 beta build, based on Android 17, under firmware A156EDXUAZZI2. The update carries the September 2026 security patch and weighs in at roughly 2.76GB, and it’s rolling out in India as of September 21.

What makes this notable is that the A15 5G wasn’t expected to be part of this round of testing at all. Samsung skipped it for both the One UI 8 and One UI 8.5 betas, and its own beta-eligible device list so far has centered on newer A-series phones like the A57, A56, A55, and A36, alongside the A35. The A15 wasn’t on that list as of earlier this month, so its sudden appearance suggests Samsung has decided to widen One UI 9 beta testing to at least one more entry-level device.

As with Samsung’s other One UI 9 betas, the update is expected to bring changes to UI and personalization, creative tools, accessibility, security, and general Android 17 improvements, along with some Galaxy AI features on devices that support them. It’s worth being cautious here, though: there’s no A15-specific changelog confirming which of these actually apply to this phone, and Samsung has said feature availability can vary by device, region, and software version, so it’s best not to assume the A15 gets the full flagship feature set.

Eligible users in India can check for the beta through the Samsung Members app, then head to Settings → Software update → Download and install, keeping in mind that availability can vary even within the same market. As for a stable release, Samsung hasn’t given a timeline for the A15 5G specifically. The company began its stable One UI 9 rollout with the Galaxy S26 series on September 16 and is expanding it gradually, but a specific stable date for the A15 isn’t confirmed yet.

One thing worth clarifying: this beta applies specifically to the Galaxy A15 5G, identified by the A156E model prefix, and not necessarily to other A15 variants, which Samsung tracks separately in its firmware database.
