Samsung’s Galaxy S26 FE has been leaking piece by piece for months, but the freshest details settle one of the bigger open questions: the camera hardware isn’t changing much at all. According to recent reporting, the main sensor is the exact same 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GN3 chip used in the Galaxy S25 FE, not just a similar spec, but the identical part number, down to the 1µm pixel size and f/1.8 aperture.
That level of specificity is worth taking seriously, since it’s coming from sourced leaks rather than a spec-sheet guess, and it lines up with a pattern Samsung has followed across recent FE generations: keep the camera stack largely untouched and put the generational upgrade budget elsewhere. The one genuine camera change is the telephoto lens, which reportedly jumps from 2x optical zoom on the S25 FE to 3x this time, alongside an unchanged 12MP ultrawide and 12MP selfie camera.
Where Samsung is actually spending money is the chipset. A Geekbench listing has already surfaced showing the Exynos 2500 running scores of roughly 2,426 single-core and 8,004 multi-core notably higher than the same chip posted on the Galaxy Z Flip 7, suggesting Samsung tuned this variant for sustained performance rather than just efficiency. That matters because Samsung’s FE lineup has historically shipped with a chip a generation behind the flagship; using the same silicon found in this year’s Z Flip 7 makes the S26 FE arguably the most capable Fan Edition chipset Samsung has fielded yet.
Battery specs point to a 4,900mAh cell with 45W wired charging, up from the 4,500mAh battery in the S25 FE, alongside Qi 2.2.1 wireless charging support confirmed through a certification filing though the listing’s Base Power Profile classification suggests standard wireless charging rather than the magnetic alignment features found on Samsung’s flagship line.
Pricing leaks still point to roughly a €50 increase over the S25 FE’s launch price in Europe, with a late August or early September announcement now looking more likely than Samsung’s usual October FE window. If the camera really is carrying over unchanged, buyers upgrading purely for photography won’t find much reason to jump the case for the S26 FE this year rests almost entirely on the chipset, not the lens.
