Apple might be preparing to bring advertisements to Apple Maps, according to a recent report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The move would mark a significant shift for Apple, which has long emphasized privacy and minimal ad intrusion across its services.
As Gurman explains, Apple could soon start showing sponsored results when users search for nearby businesses or destinations in Maps. For example, a coffee shop might pay to appear at the top of search results when someone looks up “cafés near me.” It’s a familiar approach similar to how Google Maps already integrates ads but new territory for Apple’s ecosystem.

Apple’s growing focus on services and advertising revenue isn’t surprising. The company has already expanded ads in the App Store, and Maps could be the next logical step. While no launch date has been confirmed, internal discussions suggest that Apple is testing how these ads could blend seamlessly without disrupting user experience.
If this happens, your next route on Apple Maps might include more than just directions it could include a few promoted stops along the way.
